Timber kitchen bench tops

Quality timber bench tops are equivalent to the cost of some types of granite and so are not cheap by any means. They need looking after as they are only as good as the product on the surface.

We usually do them with country oil which sets hard. You are allowed the privilege of putting on the remaining coats. After the evening meal, you just put some oil on a rag and rub it on (ten minutes max.), and the next morning it is dry and again ready to use.

The logic behind this is; because whatever product is used on the top, the surface does not remain good forever. When your bench top looks a little drab, you are already familiar with applying the country oil. So then just another coat before retiring to bed, and presto in the morning your timber bench top will be as good as new.
